Does anyone else feel like personal/family blogs are falling by the wayside? Meaning, it doesn't really seem like we are reading each others' stuff anymore. That leads me to ask why we blog in the first place. I mean in real honesty. I think some people do those blog to book things, but if we aren't putting it into blog form, why are we doing it? Are these blogs really going to stick around forever for our children to look at when they are grown?
Do we write posts because we want to share with our friends and families what is happening in our lives? I know the grandparents at least look at it once in a while. But if we want to share, doesn't it kind of suck when nobody leaves a comment?
I was listening to the radio the other day and it was talking about how the younger generation is having a harder time getting hired because with the technology age we are in, they really don't have the social skills that people are looking for. Basic skills such as answering a telephone appropriately, interacting with customers face to face, even having social skills to present well in an actual interview. The point of that was that we need to teach our kids this skill.
I hardly ever call any of my friends anymore to see how they are or to just talk. I'm going to be very honest and admit that most of the time, I just don't want to. "Communicating" has gotten so convenient when we can just send a quick text or email to find out what we want to know. It's even to the point where if there was a chance that I wanted to call someone, it seems so foreign to me now, that I'm not even sure if I would know what to say or do! I should change that.
Anyway, other than that I have a pot of ham and bean soup on the stove (that I hope turns out well and will help Justin not to be mad at me anymore) and some homemade biscuits that just came out of the oven.

Agreed. You can call me and practice your skills anytime! I always read your blog, but I am a lazy commenter.
It does suck when people don't comment. You should call me. It's been too long roomie. Hope the ham and bean soup worked out for you;-)
I always over-communicate, meaning I just talk and talk as you know. And so I love to read blogs because it's just another form of communication. I love to write on my blog because it's therapeutic for me, if anything to just write what I'm thinking about. I don't think anyone reads it because I mostly think people read there own blogs more than anyone else's blog. It reminds me of a funny quote by Oscar Wild from "The Importance of Being Ernet,“I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read in the train.” I think that as long as you are not too hermity, live as you like. Not all of us are supposed to be social butterflies. If we were all the same, it'd be so boring. I feel most comfortable calling up my elderly grandma or an elderly neighbor because they always want someone to call. I feel like some of my peers are too busy, busy busy to want to talk on the phone and they probably are. It's just a stage of life. Teach your children to be social by having play dates and parties, which you do so I think you don't give yourself enough credit.
I read your blog, but I do need to be better at leaving comments....
personally, I love reading friends blogs but you're right, no one really updates them anymore. Facebook took over I think. I quit doing my blog this year because no one read it hardly and so now I do my "blogging"/scrapbook on Mixbook.com and each year I will print it off so my family and kids have the memories. it is an awesome yet easy site to use.
I read your blog. Do you read mine? I don't really care if no one reads mine. I do it more as a journal, so my kids can look back at their lives through my eyes.
