I have really enjoyed trying the recipes over at 100 Days of Real Food
I just tried her recipe for these Dark Chocolate Whole Wheat Brownies. I doubled the recipe and used my Pampered Chef mini muffin pan to cook them in. Bite size brownies. I sprinkled chopped walnuts on top.
I used some dutch chocolate (cocoa) I had on had. I don't know if it was "dark" or not, but oh well. I also did the honey version. They were a little...bitter at first, but after eating 3 of them, I decided they were pretty good. There is no sugar in the recipe at all. I may try them again and change the recipe up to see if I can make them a little sweeter, naturally.

My mom's exact words were: "those were really gross" HAHAHAHAHA
However, my 5 year old gobbled them up!
What a beautiful picture, they look really good!
Taste can change, I've found. I used to eat those Little Debbie boxed snacks like they were going out of style. In fact, in 4 years of teaching high school and eating breakfast out of the vending machine, I probably consumed 100 of those ginormous sugar cookies with the thick, pink frosting on top and downed them with a Diet Coke. Yuck. When I started going to the Farmers' Markets in WA, I was inspired for some reason to use real ingredients and make things at home from scratch. I did that consistently but alas, got fatter and fatter as I became quiet the dessert maker. But I have found that I can't even STAND to eat those Little Debbie boxed junk anymore. Tastes change. Real food and real ingredients are where it's at. Obviously, I can't get enough of it!
