running

This last Saturday was a great milestone for me. Jodee and I ran 5 miles! It took us 58 minutes, which I don't care that much about really. I am mostly going for distance at this point. I like running and in the future I hope to be able to say, "I love running". Who really loves something they aren't that great at? I do love how it makes me feel though.

Today we ran 4 miles in 46?? minutes. Our first mile was just under 10 minutes, which was fantastic, because usually the first mile is the toughest. We have a great area near my house that has some gravel and dirt 'roads' of sorts. It feels so good to run on the soft, compact dirt. Jodee has an app on her new phone called "Runtastic". I definitely need a new phone so I can get that app too. It tracks everything! Miles run, mph, pace of each mile, elevation loss/gain, minutes, temp outside, etc. Pretty cool.

My friend Rachelle has a great plaque on her wall. It says: "Family Motto: We Do Hard Things". I love love love it! I have sort of adopted it as my running mantra :)

I know a family back home that has that plague/motto in their kitchen. It made an impression on me too.

Um, hello?! If you ran 5 miles in 58 minutes, you are great at running! I'm so happy for you! I absolutely hate/have no desire to run. I don't even want to walk unless it's sunny outside. You are doing amazing on your training and I'm excited to see how far you will run! :-)

I also go for distance as well. I am not a fast runner... and MY goal is not to be the fastest . I just want to stay healthy..
Oh i have been running for a while, and I still can't say that i love it. I just love being able to do it...

AWESOME!!! You are going to kick my trash! It's time for me to get serious. We need to compare running schedules and figure out when I can run with you guys!

I love reading about this! (for obvious reasons). Never heard of Runtastic - now I want it. Bad.

Keep up the running! Blogging like this is inspiring to so many people, I promise. And the soft trails - SO much better on your body!!
"We do hard things" - - excellent motto! And so true... but I think it's way more admirable when you choose to do the hard things, versus HAVING to do them and just getting through it. So I guess it's an attitude thing.

I win the longest comment contest.
