What makes a good day great?

I always feel like I have had a good day if I am able to get some housework done and do something worthwhile with Katelyn. What makes it a great day is when I have been spiritually uplifted and been given personal inspiration for my life. I guess today was an amazing day because all three of those things happened. I have said before that I am a simple person. It is true. Neither Katelyn or I were feeling very good today, but I still managed to get some housework done. I spent time reading with Katelyn- A simple thing, but it makes me feel good. Thank you to my husband for leaving the Ensign out on the table and open to a great article called, "If Thou Endure It Well".

I have about 7 weeks left to this pregnancy (give or take, you never know). Some of you know I have been preparing myself to have a natural childbirth. I am somewhat guarded in talking about it and I'm not sure why. Probably because I don't want people to think I am crazy, and partly because I only want positive reinforcement. If I am unsure if I will get that, I don't say much. I didn't come to this decision quickly or easily. It happened slowly over a period of three years. It was a decision I arrived at after a lot of searching, learning and educating myself, as well as through a lot of prayer. Throughout this journey I have felt touched by the Spirit and I have come closer to God. I have felt a confirmation that I have made a good choice, although having never done it before, I am becoming more anxious as the day gets closer.

A scripture was quoted in the above mentioned article which really gave me peace of mind. "...peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a moment; And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes"
(Doctrine & Covenants 121: 7-8)

I am putting my trust and faith in God that He will help me through the "moment" that has become very important and very meaningful to me at this time in my life. Is there really any way to feel closer to God than to bring life into the world?

I wish you all the best! Even people who may be in thinking your crazy have to know that you're doing what feels right to you, and since this is your baby and your body, it's your show! It's wonderful that you've been so thoughtful and done so much preperation for this 'moment'!

P.S.- I love, love love the Micheal McLean song that you put in your quote of the day! It's one of the best things I've learned from growing up!

I chose to birth Abigail natural and I got serious flack for it. I don't get why people think it is their business anyway (to speak their mind against it) It isn't them that's going through any of it :) You totally rock! It really is one of the moments in my life I am very proud of! I think it is great all of the preparation and action you have put into this, it isn't easy but you will be ready. I wish you the best of luck and hope that everything goes exactly how you have planned for it to go.

I think everyone should experience natural childbirth, or at least try to experience it. It was my quickest and easiest delivery. I healed the fastest and had the least problems when I went natural. Just be sure to have an awesome support system with you. Ask Julie, she loved having her feet and lower back/hips rubbed while in labor. You might not like to be touched though.
I think your awesome and I know you can do it! Are you planning a home birth? or birthing center? or hospital?

If you only want positive reinforcement, then I'll keep my opinion to myself :)
But I did want to say that I loved that article - it was really helpful to me too.

7 weeks! When did that happen?

What a great scripture to relate to childbirth. Might be a good mantra!

You have prepared yourself well- done everything you can. We just have to wait on Alaina and see what she wants to do. Maybe she'll be a three push kind of girl. :)

I am so very impressed with your dedication to keeping yourself and baby healthy. You're so strong & disciplined, a great example to me!

You go girl! I have felt that no experience in my life brought me closer to my creator than natural childbirth. I feel like the rewards for my "adversity," that really was such "a small moment," have truly been great! I wish everyone could have such an experience! You are going to be great!!!
