KPD Awards Banquet

Last night was the annual Kennewick Police Department's Awards Banquet. This was our 2nd year attending and we had a great time. Both years they have had it at the Canyon Lakes Country Club (I think that's what it is called). They serve a nice dinner-you can have either Salmon or Prime Rib, or both if you want! I don't eat seafood, so I chose the prime rib and prayed that it wouldn't wreak havoc on my stomach (I have been trying to avoid beef since my stomach has been acting up). I had a small piece. We also had green salad, rolls, steamed veggies, fresh fruit, roasted red potatoes. MMMM! It was good.

So along with the official awards they give out a TON of door prizes. Items which are donated by local businesses. Last year Justin was the lucky recipient of this:

While this is pretty funny, it was neither very useful or cool.

This year he won the last prize of the night which was THIS:

Now this is pretty cool, and useful! I was so excited. Well, we both were, because we had talked about how it would be fun to have something like this for our backyard. And now we don't have to buy one. And now we can use up some of that wood that is piled in our back yard.

I also won a prize: one dozen short stem roses from Just Roses, or 10$ off my (or Justin's) next flower purchase. Just in time for Valentine's day, but there's a catch. You can't use the gift certificate from Feb 7-15 of 2010 and it expires March 2010. Guess he'll have to surprise me sometime in the next month :-)

It was fun to go out to a nice dinner and the entertainment is usually good too. We always leave before it gets too crazy. And I always feel a sense of pride in being married to a man who is a Police Officer, but even more so because he is a great man, husband and father. I love you Justin!
