First off, this is what I have...
a large rock wall. I really, REALLY want a mantle.Even just a mantel shelf would be great!

Now. How do you go about installing a mantel shelf when therock is already in place. It's not real rock, so I hear it comes off easily,
but I'm not sure how easy it would be to take it off in one uniform section.
HELP!

I'm pretty sure you just drill through it. You should paint the metal on your fireplace black too.
