Running

I have been telling myself that I want to start running again (after I had the baby). I decided to look for some kind of race to run that would motivate me. I found a St Patty's Day 5K down in Kennewick and asked if anyone wanted to run with me. Two gals from church said they would be up for it. Now I have to commit. So, today I ran for the first time...in a very long time. I took it easy and knew I wouldn't get too far. When I felt like I wanted to stop and rest I looked ahead for a point to push myself towards and made it each time. I used to run a lot when I was single. I was never a great runner, but I did it because I felt like it challenged me and because it gave me a good workout. I have noticed my knees hurt me a lot more than they used to and that bugs me. But I am looking forward to the challenge again. It was a good start today and I am glad that I could even run just a little bit only two days after REALLY challenging my body by going snowboarding. I'll post about that later.

Did you run before you left to go back home? If you did, I would have loved to join you!

Hey Sweetie, Your knees likely hurt from the snow boarding. Getting back to running, set a time for your run and then split in half. Set for 30 minutes, run for 15 then go back. Increase your time as you feel stronger. When you have your running wind and legs, then start looking for routes that you can do in a circle. Find 1,3,5,8,10 mile loops and then you will be back into your running. You could also find a track to run on, use the time method or laps.
